The government has a carbon reduction target to hit by the year 2020. It needs to achieve a 15% reduction on CO2, and 80% by 2050.

With some of the oldest housing stock in Europe, this has become a huge focus for the government's carbon reduction program. By making houses less leaky and getting them off dirty fuel systems such as oil, LPG and electric heating, this will go a long way to achieving the tough targets that have been set. The government has therefore put in place a number of grant incentive programs that will assist in incentivising both domestic home owners, large business owners and anyone in-between, to look at their current fuel supplies and insulation levels, and assist them to invest in newer, greener technologies that will reduce their carbon foot print and reduce their dependency on the national infrastructure.
